We all know that nagging feeling:

You’re leaving home in the morning and as soon as you close the door, there it is.

That feeling that you might have forgotten something.

Did I remember to turn off the coffee machine? Do I have my keys? Did I remember to put pants on?

Batman - Hmmm

While I can’t help you remember to do any of the above (few can), I can remove that nagging feeling when it comes to creating SleekBoxes.

With our time activation feature, you can schedule the active periods for your SleekBox before saving it.

This way, you won’t have to worry about deactivating it when you don’t want it to show anymore.

It’ll happen all by itself—according to your planned schedules.

We recently updated this feature to make it easier to for you to get the right message out at the right time.

In this blog post, you’ll learn how to schedule your SleekBoxes so you can plan ahead and don’t have to worry about activating and deactivating your SleekBoxes.

Let’s get started.

How to schedule your SleekBoxes

When creating a SleekBox, you can schedule time activation before you save it.

To do that, enter the advanced scheduling feature by pressing “schedule activation” in the bottom of the settings page:

Schedule Activation

The feature should show up like this:

Advanced Scheduling Feature

Here, you can add one or more schedules for your SleekBox by pressing “Add a schedule”.

This gives you the following options:

Add a Schedule

If you only want your SleekBox to show during one specific period, pick one of the first four options depending on what period you want it to be active.

The fifth option—“Repeating period”—is our newest option.

With this option, you can create a recurring schedule, perfectly tailored for your needs.

If you choose this option, this schedule shows up:

Set a Repeating Period

For instance, if you wanted a specific SleekBox to show up only during your opening hours, the schedule could look like this:

Set a Repeating Period - Opening Hours

Open weekends with different opening hours? No problem—simply add another schedule:

Set a Repeating Period - Opening Hours (Weekend)

Pro Tip: Hold down the shift key to select more than one weekday.

If you have another SleekBox you want to show during closed hours, add a schedule for that in the same way and schedule it for your closed hours.

When you’re satisfied with your schedules, save your SleekBox.

Lastly, remember to leave the box above the “Save sleeknote” button unticked:

If you tick it and click “Save sleeknote,” your scheduled activation will be removed and your SleekBox will activate immediately without scheduling.

Don’t worry, though—if you accidentally press it, we’ll remind you with this message:

Reminder - Untick

What can you use the advanced scheduling feature for?

The advanced scheduling feature can be used in many ways to make your SleekBox’ active periods fit your specific needs.

Generally speaking, you can use the feature to get out different messages at different times as with the above examples with opened and closed hours.

For instance, you might want to offer site visitors a discount or another type of offer, but only for a limited time.

Limited Offer

And if you only wanted to show it on the weekends in that period, you could set up a schedule for that, too:

Limited Offer - Weekends

Another example is if you wanted some sort of Christmas calendar on your website with a new offer or tip for your visitors every day.

In that case, you would make a SleekBox for each day and schedule it like this:

Christmas Calendar

It may take some time to create a SleekBox for all these days, but the benefit of this feature is you can schedule it to run automatically. With it, you won’t have to worry about remembering to activate and deactivate a new SleekBox every day during this period.

Pro Tip: If you’re planning to create a lot of similar SleekBoxes (like with the Christmas calendar example), you can make it a lot easier for yourself by creating one SleekBox and using it as a template for the other SleekBoxes.

Simply duplicate it and adjust the new one as needed.

Over to you

As you can see, the time activation feature is useful for sending out different messages at different times.

With this feature, you will never have to worry about forgetting to activate or deactivate a SleekBox–it’ll happen all by itself.

I hope this post has opened your eyes to the possibilities with this feature and given you some inspiration for what to use it for.
