How to Guide Your Visitors to Purchases with Quizzes

Learn how to guide visitors to purchases with quizzes. This video shows how simple questions turn choice overload into tailored recommendations that drive sales.

What are quizzes that guide visitors to purchases?

Quizzes ask a few simple questions and use the answers to recommend the right products or categories. Use them to guide visitors to purchases with quizzes when choice overload would otherwise cause drop-offs.

Why quizzes work

Too many options create friction—visitors leave without buying. A short quiz narrows choices, delivers tailored recommendations, and builds confidence to buy. It feels like in-store assistance, online.

How to use quizzes in Sleeknote

  1. Create a campaign and add the Quiz step with your questions (e.g., recipient, budget, category).
  2. Optionally add a form step to collect email before showing results.
  3. Define outcomes that map answer combinations to specific product/category recommendations.
  4. Use Manage outcomes to add/edit rules (e.g., “Baby • under 200 • girl”).
  5. Customize copy, visuals, and links to categories and products that match each outcome.
  6. Publish, then track clicks to recommended categories/products and resulting sales.

Tips

  • Keep it short—3–4 questions max to reduce friction.
  • Ask only what influences the recommendation (e.g., budget, use case, size).
  • Show clear next steps: link to a category and 2–4 specific products.
  • Consider making email optional if completion rate drops.
  • Seasonal angle works well (e.g., gift finders, new-collection fit finders).

Hi. I’m Sofie. And in this video, I’ll show you how to use a quiz to guide your visitors to purchases.

Because the challenge can be when a visitor lands on your website and they are faced with too many choices, they can actually end up leaving your website without buying anything, which we definitely want to avoid. So with a quiz, we are guiding them by asking a few simple questions. And then based on the answers to these questions, we will show them relevant product recommendations or recommendations in general. So in this example, it’s around finding the perfect Christmas gift. We are first choosing we’re shopping for baby.

We have a budget, choose five hundred, and it’s a boy. So when we click next step, we are seeing the form step where we’re gonna insert our email, and we’re gonna accept terms and conditions, and click see your recommendations.

So based on the answers that we just gave, we are seeing these recommendations both with a link to a relevant category, but also product recommendations that fits within our our budget. So that is one way of doing it, and I’ll just show you how easy it is to set up in Sleeknote. Because right now, as you just saw, we have three different questions. You can obviously go ahead. You can change the question. You can change the different answers that we have, and you can also choose if you want to ask for email or if you just want to disable the form and show the results or recommendations right away.

Then we have different outcomes. Right now, we have four different ones. If you want to add a fifth, you can just click the three dots, and you can say add outcome.

Then you can click manage outcomes to decide outcome five should be baby. It should be under two hundred. It should be girl, for example. And then you will just adjust this message message to the answers over here.

So that is basically how it works. It’s a perfect way to guide your visitors and give them the service that we know from physical stores. And you can also use it for other purposes like guiding them to find the right skin care products or there’s a lot of different opportunities. So if you haven’t tried it already, I would definitely recommend it.
